VICTORY!

What comes in your mind, when you hear/ read the word VICTORY?

Speaking and walking were my victory moments during preschool. Able to have an 80+ grade in report card, finish household chores and assignments were my victorious moments in elementary. After years definition of victory changes, like gaining friends and achievements during high school, while diploma and license during college.

In every single step of the way, parents prayed and asked God’s guidance for the safety of their child. And when the time that a child able to perceive and understand the meaning of prayer, they already take the responsibility to take over on it, and ask His guidance personally. From the time that they seek His guidance, VICTORY starts. Then, eventually it will grow and connection will deepen.

After those stages and phases in life, my personal perception about victory varies. It differs depends on the circumstances, experiences and personal connection. As I grow older, and been exposed to the situations and relationship, VICTORY become God’s personal GIFT.

In the recent OCTOBERPRAISE that we had, the Lord expanded its meaning and defined the word VICTORY that we might wonder. As it is said, “But thanks be to God who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ”. And as I personally go back to the previous days, years, and decades, it is indeed God’s ways and revelations.

We might have different experiences of victory. Based on the last Octoberpraise, we may have victory over sickness, failures, sin, and knowing Jesus. In your personal journey, you might encounter different victories. Sometimes along the way victorious moment might be smooth, rough and tough. But remember He is with you. His promise never fails. We might not understand it now, but as we take the process of leaning unto His hands, and ask His graces, we will surely overcome the challenges.

October has been a roller coaster season of highs and lows. Heartaches, cramming, and sleepless nights are all over the days. Challenged my wellbeing from mental, social, physical, emotional and spiritual. But on the last week of October, I was able to see light. Disputes are over, requirements submitted, and refreshed with a good ambiance and people. My dry season in the dessert may be over, which signifies that VICTORY is around. But surprises didn’t end there. He wanted me to process it with a wonderful recollection and worship night. Like in the journey of Christ, after He experience challenges, He rested in the arm of His Father.

Remember that Christ experienced challenges like being in the dessert, and going to the Calvary. But upon those challenges He was able to overcome and experienced VICTORIES. During recollection of Octoberpraise, Bro. Kenz, who is a Jesuit brother, reminded that Christ came to fulfill His mission and to experience human challenges. As we take on our life’s journey, remember that He is with us, and He is also holding on our crosses. He understands our pains, our tears and our joys because He already experienced it.

He invites us to know our identity through leaning into His God’s hands and understand His ways. If challenges and failures happen, remain gracious in our defeat and prove God’s victory. Remember that no failures can keep us from being victorious in God’s eyes. He will help us to renew our faith and make us new, just focus that Christ is alive and victorious in the life of others (Santos, Germata, Rallama, Abringe, 2021).

Salvation and resurrection happen for a reason. If there is no resurrection of the dead, Christ was not raised. The gospel is not good news, and believers of faith, hope, and love is in vain (Bro Kenz).

If you wonder where is the victory in these trying times, like you and me, I need to hold on to His promise, His cross, His grace, because the victory is around the corner.
